“Alright guys welcome back to urge in the subclass series. We re moving on to to the fighter. And this is going to be about the battle master class. So any further ado.
We re gonna get right down into it yes. There are two big things that are the keys for how the battle master operates. All the abilities. So we re out of two things they have battle maneuvers and their superiority dice.
They use their superiority dice and that s how they get to use all these maneuvers. There s a total of 16 yeah. 16. Different maneuvers you can pick from you start off by choosing free.
And then it s subsequent levels. You level seven 10 and 15. Yeah right you get two additional ones each of those three levels. So you can pick you see all.
16 of them i want these three and you kind of plan is you go up and with these two what these do you want these two then whenever you want to use one of those you roll your superiority dice. Which starts as a d8 and then you get to add that to whatever else works with that individual motivate pray sometimes it adds a c. Sometimes it you know increases saving throw. There s all kinds of a so we ll get to some more of that stuff a little bit later in the video as far as that goes.
But as you level up in the fire class. The superior guys from a to d tents and eventually in to d12 so the only time i ve seen de twelves use is a barbarian hit dice. So it s kind of cool that you get to use that rare in a cool little shape d12. So it s that s essentially the whole base of what this class operates around also about level 3.
You have a student of war who you gain proficiency with an artisan tool of your choice all right yes something like that is miss named for it s a misnomer for what this is level. 7. You get an ability called annoy your enemy. It s actually pretty interesting to think yeah you can spend a minute kind of studying your opponent.
And you can learn some things about that opponent. There s a list of things that you can learn. But you can learn two of the following all right so we have strength score deck score constitution score armor class. Their current hit points total up class levels.
If any and any fighter class levels. If any if you re considering maybe killing the person you re like we don t like this guy. We think he s bad or whatever you can kind of scope them out and you re like this guy might be way too strong for us to kill so maybe we have to ditch that planet find more sneaky way to kill them or something. So you can kind of use it for an rp sense religiously at level 10 you get improved combat superiority you re basically gonna improve your sp already dice in 2d tens and then level 18 in 2d 12.
So just getting the bigger dice for your maneuvers. Indeed a little 15 you get restless basically how this works is if you enter combat with no superiority dice. You gain one bag so you always have at least one maneuver available in combat. But the good thing is the dice come back on the short rest or long way out so.
Even. This is like i think. This is kind of a rare use for this because usually you re getting a couple short rest. It s a day.
I would think if you re getting heavy encounters and stuff you re getting you know and if you re getting lots of smaller encounters. You don t really need the rest. Because you re just plowing through lots of little enemies. So i think.
This is gonna be more of a rare occasion that you actually use this because you re probably to get some short rests and so we kind of talked about a little bit. But we re gonna go over just a couple of our favorite ones. Or some. One s a little bit different here with the maneuvers um.
There s like i said. 16 of them tomate. But and a lot of them are actually really good yes and a lot of them are utility based. So you know some of the ones that i was looking at you know disarming attack you can try to knock something off someone s hand.
So say like someone steal something from you they re running away. That s a thief like or someone steals a person like help they stole another bag whatever you can just aim and shoot it out of their hand and they run away. And you get the bag back whatever or someone s attacking you they have a big ol. Axe and you re like nope.
I want that hand and fate of yourself forever no way i copy you curse to us so be careful if it s a big scary acts its flaming or something it was a good chance. It s got a cursor or sentient thing okay bad yeah. One of them you re increasing your opponent. A friend allies damage and also giving them advantage.
Which is pretty good to do both at once that would be the distracting strike and then you have evasive footwork. You can increase people s armor class defensive. Things you have offensive names you have utility things all kinds of stuff. And oh.
You had a couple do a couple ones. I really like because i try to think of things that are really good to make that kind of han spec. Where the class already does the trip attack is kind of one of you thinks that that sounds really basic. But if you think of what the fighter does it s awesome because what does it gives you a chance to knock them prone and with a fighter you have three you get three extra attacks a total of four so if your first turn you knock somebody on there.
But you ve got advantage on them for the next three attack taylor you re going to assault something. And it s gonna be awesome just on something as simple as you trip them it s not anything crazy. It s like you re tripping that you beat the snot out of them it s awesome. The other thing which i think is a nice way to you want to get more versatility get some more small damage in is repost.
Which if they miss you even uses pretty order dice a chance to immediately attack them use a reaction to get them back in return. If you re wanting to know all of them. It s on page 74 of the fighters handbook here so you can look at all of them. And there s a ladder just take us like forever to talk about every single one a 45 minute video so again.
3. If you if you have questions your first one it s our p value combat value and overall eccleston or how it works with you know the other abilities of the question deed role playing waz course. We always do first we did three and a half out of the five loops. We did three and a half because you do get some small rp things like with the know your enemy.
And and things like that you kind of reel play how you find out information how you observe things maybe the conversation. You have with people in the area or with the with your ollie maneuvers. How you do that in combat. But it s like of it so comment sure your people yeah yeah.
But it s it s it s got some help there. But it s still really limited. It s a very niche in his roleplay. There s no there s nothing he doesn t offer anything really outside of combat or if it s not combat related.
Yeah. I mean there s the artisan tool. But i mean how often do you actually have real cars and tools let s be honest you know and then next. We have the combat value like you said that lots of utility here so we can give it a four and a half just because there s so many options yes right and you get all of your your dice back on a short rest that s yeah that s huge i mean to really analyze reanalyzed engage it more like these all pretty good with you it feels like you could blow through them pretty quickly when they were like yeah.
But you can get it all back on the shorter is not long as i have the ability even so you have two compounds back to back. Yeah. You say you blew them all in freshmen was you to notice. Me another combat you have your ability that gives you at least one you ll have something for the next combat.
Even if those they can surprise you feel like surprise combat late in the night. Yeah you want a middle and i haven t got your rest in to get a recharge or whatever. That s uh tonight s little extra turn around there. And i hope and all the utility is always always good in combat versatility and flexibility doesn t really branch out of what the fighter does but it does give more versatility more flexibility to what to what the fighter does it still a bunch of fighter.
But it gives it more options like you do yeah finally of course is overall class synergy and how it helps help with that what s given with a three and a half for a lot of the same reasons with the rp that kind of go hand in hand with this one. Because it does it adds a little bit once again come just adds more a little bit more flexibility options to what the fighter does but it doesn t necessarily build on any of the baseline abilities. Doesn t do any additional you know fighting stances or any bonuses to their already ridiculous weapon and arm proficiencies anything like that yeah. It just gives you more versatility things you could do when you re in common alright guys so that s our major thoughts on the battle master fighter martial archetype yes what a mouthful said that three times fast i i didn t think i was in there.
I was like i m like thinking in my head. While i m saying you probably see that like what first ride no rooms guys first ride over boobs you d be surprised try stuff. Which is like never so anyway. She has enjoyed the video.
