Today, diane-kruger.net would like to introduce to you NATURE GUIDE FOR POKEMON SUN AND MOON! How to Choose and Get the Right Nature in Pokemon Sun Moon! – YouTube. Following along are instructions in the video below:
“What is going on each of us your boy dan hey. Care. A job. I i bring you guys.
Eight guys. Today for pokemon sun and moon talking about pokemon s. We re gonna be going in depth here about all the nature s that pokemon can have how you can change them how you can influence them. Which nature.
You should pick and everything in between now nature s are pretty basic kind of fundamental aspect of competitive pokemon. So if you re an expert pokemon. Player this might not be the video for you. But a lot of people have been asking me to cover this topic on my twitch livestream.
So i figured why not man and as always guys if you enjoy the video show you love on that like button down below subscribe. If you re new and let me know in the comment section. Below. If there s any other topics you would like for me to cover for pokemon sun and moon.
So let s jump right into things here guys. Nature s are something that was introduced in generation. 3. Every pokemon has a nature and you may have seen these words.
Many times before between hardy and lonely adamant and impish careful and jolly and everything in between there are 25 different nature s 5 of which of those are neutral nature s and what nature s do is every single pokemon has one as i mentioned and it will influence that pokemon stat by plus or minus 10. So for example. The bold nature will increase. Your defense stat on a pokemon by 10 and lower their attack stat by 10 as well now again there are neutral nature s like bashful and quirky.
Which don t have any impact in the pokemon. But nature s are very very important when it comes to competitive. Battling and making sure you can get the most out of your pokemon stats. Because you want to increase the stats that are most useful to you while you decrease.
The stats that you re not going to use so i m going to jump into a pretty in depth example here momentarily. But before i do that let s actually take a look here at our little foe mantis that i call recently. I want to show you an in game. Screenshot when you see the red on the word sp attack that means.
My special attack stat is going up and the blue means. My speed stat is going down. So this for mantis right here was actually a quiet nature as you can see on our chart. Which increases.
Our special attack and lowers our speed is that the ideal nature for mantis probably not but nevertheless that was the nature that was given to me when i call it the pok mon and that s what i m stuck with and you can t change natures. But i will show you at the end of the video how to influence the nature for the pokemon they re catching or breeding. So let s jump into an example here the first example. I m going to take a look at one of my favorite pokemon viko folt.
Now looking at viking bolds base stats. You can actually see that it s got quite interesting. Stats..
Hp is 77. Its attack is 70. Its defense is 90. Its special attack is 145.
Its special defense is 75 and its speed is 43. And i want to make note here that at level 100 with a negative nature. A neutral nature or a positive nature. The hp can never change natures do not impact your hp stat.
They only attack impact your attack through your speed. So attack defense special attack special defense and speed your hp is not affected by nature s it s affected by other stats called evs and ivs which i can cover at a later time so looking at michael here. We look at its stats. And we say okay.
What nature would make the most sense for michael and doing some simple math. And statistics you can determine that when you re raising a stat and lower your staff by 10. The bigger that number is the more 10 of that is going to be so vague example. 10 of 100 is 10.
But 10 of 10 is only 1. So the higher the stat is the more that that nature is going to impact it so that s a really important thing to note. When you re choosing your nature. So looking at viking bolts over here.
We see that it s got this monstrous special attack stat and we know that vike of old is mostly known for being a special attacking pokemon. So it would make the most sense to me to boost that special attack stat to get the most out of it to make sure our michael is hitting as hard as possible so you re going to see here. We are going to look at our special attack stat that 1 45. And again.
10 of that base 145 is a lot more than 10 of that base 43 speed stat for example. So we re going to have a bigger impact by using a positive special attack nature for our vicap ol tier. So looking at some of those nature options modest is a great option here modest is going to increase our special attack and lower our attack stat and most likely we re not going to use our attack sound like a bowl. It s not very good.
70 isn t very good for a base power and bikable. Its attacks are all going to be specially offensive thunderbolts and bug buzz. And maybe air slash and flash cannon. Maybe volt.
Switch. None of those moves are physical attacks. So there s really no reason for viking boat to use its physical attack. Stat now you may also notice.
I did highlight quiet nature up there as well and that s because viking boat speed stat is pretty low you can actually choose to use a quiet nature bikable. If you re using a trick room so that s where you ve got to get creative. And there s never any 100 answer on what nature you should pick it really should determine or you should determine your nature based on the pokemon you re using. What kind of team you re making.
And what the set of that pokemon is gonna be so like a volt here. Again really really beneficial to boost it special attack step and and if you re going trick room you can actually lower its speed stat. But you can also really get creative here and try to increase its speed stat as well by using something like a timid nature..
Which would lower your attack. But raise your speed not really the best idea. Unless you re trying to run like an agility variant. Where you can kind of take advantage of that that speed stat with the agility doubling it and then allow you to out speed mega lopunny.
But that s a little bit more complicated than i want to get but in this case. Like i said boosting your special attack. Stat is gonna allow you to get the most out of this viking. All here.
Let s look at something a little bit different. Let s look at a different example. Here. Let s take a look at top of coco top.
Oh coco is one of the new legendary type pokemon in the game. And let s take a look at his base stats. Right. So.
Topic. Oka. Has 70. Hp.
115. Attack. 85. Defense.
95. Special attack. 75. Special offense.
And 130 speed. So that 130. Speed stat is very very good and very very important especially considering into the competitive field that 130 base speed spent stat actually makes a huge difference. Because you re going to be speed tiling with a lot of different things like crow bat and stuff like that so.
It isn t your best interest in many cases with a pokemon like this to boost your speed stat. But let s say you want to be a more offensive version of top of coco you would look at your attacks die. And say oh man. I should really be boosting my attack stat wouldn t that make a lot of sense let s boost our tax debt so we have our attack on our speed.
But this is where things get kind of tricky. When you re choosing nature s because top of coco is actually better at specially offensive moves than it is it physically offensive moves. So. While it may look at its base stats.
And it may say oh man. We gotta. We got to go with like an atom in nature..
We got to go with like a you know a jolly nature to boost those stats. Well it s special attack is actually decent at 95. And it so turns out that topic cocoa special attacking move pool is better giving it options like dazzling gleam and thunderbolts and volt switch. And those moves are typically more useful and competitive than running wild charge.
And i don t know acrobatics or whatever the heck else it gets so in a lot of situations. It s actually better to go specially offensive or even mixed attacking and you re gonna see some options here so i highlighted modest and timid. If you want to go with a special offensive variant. And you can go adam in a jolly.
If you want to go a physically offensive variant. But you can even get more creative and go for hasty or naive and pick a nature. That is going to reduce one of your defense stats. And actually boost your speed stat instead or you can even go with something that s going to boost your special attack and reduce your defense a pokemon like topic cocoa is very interesting.
Because it is very versatile on the fact. That it s got great speed and good enough attack on both spectrums that it can be a mixed attacker and you could actually sacrifice some of your defenses. Because you re not really going to be taking a lot of hits. This thing is meant to be kind of a hit and run type pokemon.
It s meant to be a late game. Cleaner. It s meant to be kind of like a sweeper esque type pokemon so the defense stats are less important. But i always encourage you to take a look at those stats for that pokemon and determine based on its move pool and your team what stats are gonna make the most sense for you on that pokemon so for me with this topic.
Oco. A lot of people have been rocking. Max. Speed.
With you know a positive speed nature. And then max special attack with a you know kind of no effect of the special attack and then lowering the attack stat or lowering one of your defenses. Whether it be special defense or defense in case you want to include some attacking moves like brave bird. I believe it gets so lots a couple options there hopefully that s not too confusing.
But i just want to kind of give you guys the basics of how you can choose your nature. And how it can be incredibly simple as we saw with viking olenka bolts a pretty easy pokemon to pick their nature. Because you re just looking at that special attacks that you know you don t need your attacks. That at all so you might as well just make it modest or or something like that maybe even timid.
But with top of ko ko. Things get a little bit more tricky. So it s always good to look at the move pools and make sure you re picking the exact nature that you want so you may be asking how do i pick these nature s in the first place and how do i make sure my pokemon have these awesome natures well. There s a great item called the ever stone and ever stone is found on wild roggin rolla s and i believe geodude s too but rock and rollers have it 50 of the time.
It s held by a rock and rolla and you can actually find these little dudes and 10 carat hill on maily maily island. Very very easy to find you can go for them you go for thief steal the steal the ever stone from it or just catch a bunch of rock and roll as you ll get a bunch of them you really only need one of them. But any pokemon holding the ever stone in the day care will 100 of the time pass down that nature to an egg. So if i have if i m breeding.
A viking boat with a dido and my viking boat has the modest nature and it is holding a never stone 100 of the time that viking boat will pass down that nature and every egg. I hatch will have the nature of the pokemon in the day care that s holding the ever stone so very nice tip there so when you re breeding for pokemon. There s no reason why you shouldn t be able to get the exact nature you want it s very very simple now when it comes to wild encounters..
A little bit different you re gonna want to use the ability called synchronized and synchronizes an ability found on many many pokemon mostly psychic types abre and munna and i think not to gets it and there s like few pokemon. But abre is definitely the easiest one to get in the game you could find it on route 1. I believe or how olli city. I m sorry holy city in melee melee on the first island.
You can find them where the lowland meowth. Saw and things like that right across the pokemon center. Pretty easy to find you can catch a bunch of them. And it s got a 50 chance to have the ability synchronized what s anchoring eyes.
Does is if you re abracadabra alakazam err on the front of your party and engaging in battle. You actually have a 50 chance that the wild pokemon. You encounter will have that same nature as your abra. So it gets a little bit tricky when it comes to sos because the pokemon needs to be in the front of your party and things like that so we ll probably cover that in a different video.
But realistically at the end of the day as long as your abra is in the front of your party. When you encounter a wild pokemon. You have a 50 chance of that while pokemon has the same nature as your abra. So if you wanted to get something like a top of cocoa with a timid nature or if you wanted to get you know something like one of those legendary pokemon with the right nature.
All you have to do is put a synchronizer with that nature in the front of your party save before you encounter the legendary capture the legendary you have a 50 chance that it will have the proper nature that you re looking for it s really not too tough. And again you can use this to find shaunie s using the soi method. But it does get a little bit more complicated with that i ll kind of touch on it briefly really quickly the way it works is the pokemon not only has to be in the front of your party. But the pokemon has to be in battle when that pokemon gets called in through the sos method.
And it s a little bit funky because it s still gonna it s still going to synchronize the front pokemon in your party. And again. I ll come i ll cover this at another video. Because it does get a little bit hairy and i want to do a little bit more testing myself before i try to explain all that but that s basically the gist of it you can impact your nature s pretty easily through using the everstone breeding method.
And you can also use a synchronizer like a buret to pass those nature s out again. You have all these different nature options up here feel free to get creative. Some of those nature s like lowering your speed. Like brave could be really effective on something.
Like crab amma table. You know uh crab brawlers of all form. Which is a very very hard hitting pokemon with a move called ice hammer. Which is going to lower its speed.
So you can take advantage of that by giving it a brave nature to increase its attack stat lower its speed stat and make him as slow as possible under a trick room setting making it more effective sweeper than otherwise could be and again you saw with top lococo. There s a lot of different options in terms of natures you can choose so it s really about evaluating the pokemon stats determining what their mood pool is and what that move pool is gonna allow you to do and then figuring out what s gonna make the most sense for your team obviously. One other point. I want to bring up is again the point that 10 of a higher number is more than 10 of a lower number so in many cases.
It s better to choose the higher stat because you might be able to make up those extra stat points by using your eby s or effort values at a later time and again effort values and ivs are a little bit more complicated so that s something i ll jump into in a different video. But i genuinely hope you enjoyed this video guys i wanted to give you guys a quick little guide on nature s hopefully everything was covered if you think i missed anything feel free to let me know in the comments section below as always like the video. If you enjoyed subscribe if you re new and that s gonna be for me guys my name is dan i ll talk about a drama. I m gonna catch you guys later peace music.
